In the previous article on the Competitive Analysis of key phrases you could see how it is possible to measure the relative difficulty of positioning your key phrases about your competition. We use the SEO Toolbar from SEOmoz, measuring parameters and Page Authority Domain Authority. This data is SEOmoz owners and are considered one of the most reliable ways to measure the authority of a page.

Despite these new variables introduced by SEOmoz the Google Pagerank still has a considerable weight when evaluating the influence of a front page to another. So in this article you will learn how to test yourself against your competition by evaluating their PageRank with the help of SeoQuake.


SeoQuake is a tool bar (Toolbar) that is available for all major web browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Opera (Beta) and Safari (Beta). With it you can view a large number of parameters in the sites you visit, and what is more interesting, watch them directly on the search results page (SERPS).


In this article I will install the version for Firefox stepper. First visit the website SeoQuake and we click on the button "Install SeoQuake"

If you get a dialog that asks for permission to install the plugin, click on "Allow"

A new dialog appears informing you about what is to be installed, click on "Install Now".


Confirm installation of the
Firefox will confirm that the plug is installed and will ask you to restart Firefox.

When Firefox repeats you will see a new icon in the toolbar add-ons, which is activated by default.

Once installed when you do a Google search results page will look like this:

SeoQuake shows different parameters of the website you're viewing through a toolbar called SEoToolbar, and also has the option to display them in the Google search results. The latter is the choice that we want, and we can use this information to make a quick and easy analysis of our competitors in the SERPs.

Among the parameters that you can see directly on the results page and that interest we are:

Google Pagerank
Number of pages indexed in Google
Alexa Rank
Let's do a search anyone, eg "seo training in Coimbatore." After the usual Google ads we find organic results, and their corresponding parameters provided by SeoQuake.

One of the options that you will greatly facilitate the work with the data of the results is the ability to save them in CSV format, to continue analyzing them in a spreadsheet and create custom reports. To do this you must click on the "Save to File" at the top of the results and will ask for a location to save the file.

If you open the file with Microsoft Excel, you will see the first ten results, as they have seen in your browser, and all parameters.

With this information you can start analyzing your competition by Google Pagerank and other parameters that provides SeoQuake, as well as the default data you see in the results you can add or remove other predefined or even create them for you.
